We are proud to present a new record player concept, which is based on Heinz Lichtenegger's 40 years of experience in the sale and construction of record players.
The first turntables that Pro-Ject Audio founder Heinz sold in the 70s all had a similar design. Well-known brands all used the compact and elegant "frame design" established by manufacturers in the 50s and 60s.
In this modern version of the classic model, there are a number of important improvements.
Better insulation is achieved using TPE (Thermo Plastic Elastomers). By isolating the turntable and tonearm from the motor's resonances, Pro-Ject has designed a far better sub-chassis construction than before.
The plate is a special aluminum alloy and also includes TPE for better damping.
The sub-plate and the bearing are constructed of hardened steel, bronze bushing and Teflon. The result is a very smooth and "low noise" rotation of the bearing.
The biggest difference in the bearing, compared to the cheaper models, is the tolerance. It is 10 times smaller and therefore more accurate (0.005%).
The Classic Tonearm is a radical and new design, and is the result of more than 25 years of experience.
The tonearm tube is a sandwich construction between carbon and aluminum. While the pin-point Zircon bearing provides ultra-low friction, a new exclusive Japanese ball bearing provides a much better movement and flow for the arm.
The counterweight is also damped with TPE and reduces the amplification of tone arm resonances in the pickup by 50%.
Unlike many other manufacturers, Pro-Ject also offers on this model, adjustment of both azimuth and VTA.
The pickup fitted from the factory is the exclusive Ortofon 2M Silver
Including dust cover.
